How to be a Hipster♡

♡♡
Ever wonder what a hipster really means? Well here are some examples that I had found on Urban Dictionary:

♡♡An unwashed and ungroomed person who hates corporations and everything mainstream, yet still buys Apple products.

♡♡A 20 something white, upper-middle class suburban transplant to any gentrifying neighborhood in any major city, but Brooklyn, NY in particular. Disheveled, hand-me-down appearance to present the image that they are not a slave to trends or fashions(ha!) They typically wear thick, Andy Warhol-like glasses (whether they need them or not), unshaven, unkept shaggy hair and retro Converse sneakers sometimes with no laces. The term is often used as a pejorative considering a "hipster" detests being called a "hipster."

See now to me that is totally incorrect. The real definition of hipster is, "Usually a young person who is trendy, stylish, someone who dresses like a tomboy and a girly girl at the same time. Someone whos clothes are very similar to their boyfriend/guy friend."

Know you know the real definition of hipster, now here are some ways to become a hipster:

1. Wear Glasses You Don't Need
Glasses are a must for the hipster look, so if you have good vision, get some with regular lenses. The more eclectic the frames, the better. Think bright colors!

2. Instagram Everything
Hipsters love taking photographs and sharing them. Get lots of artistic, surreal shots of common items and load them into Instagram daily.

3. Wear a Flannel Shirt
Flannel shirts rank right up there with skinny jeans and vintage clothes. Get yours from thrift stores or any store you would like if you can.

4. Think Frugal
Hipsters are all about reusing and being thrifty. Buy everything you can secondhand, from a bike to clothing and music. That way you'll have more cash to donate to worthy causes. (This one is only if you like thrift stores, you can still go to regular stores and find some hipster outfits).

5. Keep Your Hair Casual
Hipsters can't be bothered with beauty salons and fancy hairstyles. The more natural looking the better. They have more important things to do, such as taking pictures and reading.

6. Watch Indie Films
Indie and foreign films are the way to go if you're a hipster. Sure there are some cool-looking mainstream films, but that's what everyone else watches. But remember you don't have to if you don't like them.

7. Lay the Irony on Thick
Hipsters use sarcasm and irony so often it's like their first language. Make sure you sigh, smirk, or roll your eyes so that everyone knows you aren't serious.

8. Use the Lingo
Make sure that you use key hipster phrases when speaking to both hipsters and non-hipsters. Important ones to know are 'I liked them before they were cool' and 'that band is so boring.'

9. Read Hipster Blogs
The ultimate hipster is one who knows everything before it's the next big thing. So read plenty of hipster blogs to stay on top of the latest news. Like mine (:

10. Refuse to Be Defined
You're probably going to get some flak from your non-hipster friends if you have any. Stay true to your beliefs and don't let anyone label you in ways that don't fit.

Thank You for reading I hope this tips help you in becoming a hipster someday or even sooner, oh and have a fun school year being a new and improved hipster this year♡♡
